Blast Hatches
Blast Hatches
Blast-Resistant Hatches for Shelters, Bunkers & Protected Facilities
Blast hatches provide protected emergency entrances, exits, and access points for shelters, bunkers, safe rooms, and other hardened facilities. Philadelphia Safety Devices offers blast-resistant hatch systems designed to withstand blast pressure while helping maintain the protective integrity of the structure.
Available configurations include inward- and outward-opening hatches as well as horizontal top-opening systems. Depending on project requirements, hatches can provide blast, fragmentation, ballistic, gas-tight, and watertight protection, with options available for different pressure ratings, installation conditions, and civil defense standards.
Need help selecting the right blast hatch?
Our team can help evaluate blast pressure, opening dimensions, installation orientation, protection requirements, and applicable standards to identify an appropriate hatch for your project.
ATM SL-1 / SL-1S Blast Hatches
Outward-opening blast hatches designed to meet Finnish S1 shelter requirements, providing protected emergency access with the hatch opening toward the blast source.
ATM HS-1 / HS-1S Blast Hatches
Inward-opening blast hatches designed to meet Finnish S1 shelter requirements, with the hatch opening in the direction of the blast wave.
SU-III-INW Blast Hatches
Inward-opening shelter blast hatches designed to meet CEE shelter requirements for applications requiring protection at 4.4 bar (440 kPa) blast pressure.
SU-IVR Blast Hatches
Outward-opening shelter hatches designed for civil defense applications requiring blast resistance above 1 bar (100 kPa).
SU-III Blast Hatches
Outward-opening shelter blast hatches designed for demanding civil defense applications requiring resistance above 4.4 bar (440 kPa).
SU-I Blast Hatches
Heavy-duty outward-opening shelter hatches designed for high-pressure applications requiring blast resistance above 9 bar (900 kPa).
SU Type Top-Opening Blast Hatches
Horizontal top-opening configurations of SU-IVR, SU-III, and SU-I blast hatches equipped with supporting lift mechanisms to provide protected overhead access to shelters and other hardened spaces.
SU-III RWRT Watertight Blast Hatches
Top-opening watertight shelter hatches designed for applications requiring blast resistance up to 4.4 bar (440 kPa) along with protection against water intrusion.
